Recycle Christmas Tree

5 Ways To Recycle Your Christmas Tree

It’s the sad time of year again where using the holidays as an excuse to exempt yourself from reality has expired.  It’s time to answer the email from Janice in accounting, and get back on track with real life. The beautiful Christmas tree in the corner of your family room that majestically transformed your entire house in to a winter wanderlust? Yeah, that has to go. Sad face. So what do you do with the tree you and your family decorated so elegantly? Here’s some ideas!

  1. Rinse, Re-use, Recycle! – Plant that guy right back where he came from. Of course it has to be a living tree with the roots still intact, but channel your inner hippie and enjoy your tree for many more years to come.
  2. Give back to Mother Nature – She has provided you with a glorious tree, now it’s your turn to give back to Mother Nature, and her animal friends. A nice way to get rid of your Christmas tree is by turning it in to a bird feeder. You can put it in the ground, or stay lazy and keep it in its stand. Get the kids involved – make a cranberry and popcorn string, toss some stale bread in and around it and… BOOM! You’ll have chickadees, cardinals, song sparrows, and many other birds of kin taking shelter in your backyard.
  3. Garden galore – Cut off the branches, and use the trunk to edge the garden you’ve been planning for so long now. Hello 2016 garden goals!
  4. Cozy on up – Feeling self-sustaining? Chop the tree up and use it as fire wood, duh!
  5. Recycle the boring way – Many communities will have tree-recycling programs. This is a nice way to give back to your community, as the program will chop the tree up and probably use the wood for parks and public spaces.

Trade Shows and Giant Blue Bears

During January and February, we enter what we like to call “trade show season” because we do the National Western Stock Show in Denver as well as the Colorado Garden & Home Show. The shows are just two weeks apart from each other and this year we wanted to make a big visual impact. We built a trade show booth display to showcase our fire tables and Terrace Collection furniture, and I really think we achieved the visual impact we were looking for!

The National Western Stock Show ran from January 10th through the 25th, and we had a really great show! One of our employees even sold a fire table to his second cousin, whom he hadn’t seen in almost 15 years! We had a great time connecting with some of our customers from years past, as well as meeting a whole host of new customers too!

We used the two weeks in between shows to catch up on office work, and begin focusing on promotions for the upcoming spring months. The Colorado Garden & Home Show began on February 7th through the 15th at the Colorado Convention Center. This was our second year doing this show and we loved our time at the show this year! We were even part of a segment on 9NEWS featuring “Hot Products” from the Garden & Home Show!

We’ll be at these shows again during 2016, so if you are planning on attending be sure to look for All Backyard Fun!

All Backyard Fun at the Boulder Creek Festival

What a busy month May was! In a matter of weeks, we hosted a launch party with the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and we displayed a booth at the Boulder Creek Festival which sees more than 35,000 people visit over the course of three days! Whew!

Each year on Memorial Day weekend the city of Boulder hosts one of the best and most well known 10K races in the United States, the BolderBoulder as well as hosts a festival along the banks of the Boulder Creek. The aptly named Boulder Creek Festival runs Saturday-Monday and is an important event for the community of Boulder and its downtown neighborhood. The event features live music, a craft-beer garden, food courts, many many booths featuring everything from artisan woodworking, and clothing to crossfit and outdoor furniture.

This was our first year having a booth at the Boulder Creek Festival and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the greater Boulder community with such a fun event. We saw heavy foot traffic all three days of the festival and got to chat with numerous people about Oriflamme fire tables and our lines of patio furniture. The weather was beautiful but stormy which worked in our favor as people were taking refuge from the rain and wind inside our tent. We even had one of the fire tables running for people to warm up next to!

We had so much fun introducing ourselves to Boulder and chatting with curious festival goers about our products, why we moved the business from Minnesota to Colorado, where we are located in Boulder, and the always popular “can I touch the glass?”.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year at the Boulder Creek Festival!

All Backyard Fun had its ribbon cutting party on May 15, 2014 to celebrate nearly a year of doing business here in Boulder, Colorado.

Launching All Backyard Fun in Boulder

Well, it’s been a while hasn’t it? During the last couple of months, it’s been very busy around here at All Backyard Fun and we haven’t had a lot of time to stop and enjoy the community of our city and our customers. On May 15th, we got the opportunity to do just that! Our ribbon cutting and launch party took place on the 15th and we invited many of our local customers, business partners, neighbors, and guests to come out and celebrate with us.

The Boulder Chamber of Commerce was on hand with a ribbon and a pair of novelty scissors, our friends over at Upslope Brewery provided delicious beer, and the great folks over at the Protein Bar brought super yummy (and healthy) wraps, burritos, and salads. As the evening went on, we got the opportunity to share with everyone gathered how much we appreciate their support, interest, and business and that we are looking forward to growing deep roots here in the Front Range. We had such a great evening and even got to connect with a few online customers who stopped by too! Please browse through the photos and reach out to us if you are in the Front Range, we’d love to meet you!
